The Stouts' Taters By: Natalie W.

Recipe Story

My Gran has been making this dish for over 40 years. The first time she made it, my grandfather told her they were the best thing he had ever eaten. Needless to say, she continued to make them for every holiday and special family gatherings. Since I started making them myself, my husband and I altered the recipe a little by adding the bacon and keeping the skin on the potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 5 lb regular potatoes
  • 16 oz sour cream
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 2 stick(s) butter
  • 2 Tbsp minced onion
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 jar ready-to-eat bacon
  • Add All Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cook potatoes.

  2. Mash potatoes with skin on and add sour cream, cream cheese, one stick of butter, minced onion and bacon.

  3. Place in a greased 9x13 pan.

  4. Dot the entire top with one stick of butter and salt and pepper.

  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
