Tasty Pecan Bars By: Ann R.

Recipe Story

Our family often served this dessert because they loved pecan pie. Our son who has CF loved the sweetness of the bar that contrasted with the pecans and salt. For him I often cut the bars into larger pieces.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 c brown sugar, packed
  • 1 c flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 c chopped pecans
  • Powdered sugar
  • Add All Ingredients

Directions

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 40 minutes

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

  2. Butter 8x8 inch Pyrex pan.

  3. Line pan with parchment and spread on butter.

  4. Cream butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar in a bowl.

  5. Mix in flour.

  6. Press in bottom of greased pan.

  7. Bake for 20 minutes and cool.

  8. Using an electric mixer, beat eggs, remaining brown sugar, vanilla extract and salt until smooth.

  9. Sprinkle nuts over top.

  10. Bake for 20 minutes more.

  11. Sprinkle top with powdered sugar.

  12. Allow to cool and cut into 1" squares.

  13. Makes 24 one-inch squares.
