"Choose one inspirational quote or motto that has helped you throughout your journey with cystic fibrosis. How do you live by your quote or motto and how has it motivated you to accomplish your goals?"

A quote found on my cystic fibrosis journey is one from Benjamin Franklin, " Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today." It has helped me with medication adherence, as well as encouraged me to advocate for myself, and make the most out of every day to reach my goals. The medication and treatments I must take daily can be challenging to adhere to. I like to think of the future and ask myself, “How do I want my health to be when I’m older?” This motivates me to adhere to my medication today, and make responsible decisions, so that when tomorrow comes, I can have a healthy lifestyle. I know tomorrow is not promised, which is why I try to make every day a memorable experience. In education, family, finances, and friendships I try to reach new heights by seeking a balance, and taking the time to appreciate every moment. I have always loved life because it is beautiful despite the challenges. As a matter of fact, I believe life needs to be a little ugly at times so that we can appreciate the true beauty of the good moments it grants us. By finishing my master’s degree in counseling, I will be able to work as a school counselor and I hope to help others by giving encouraging messages and testimony of being able to overcome and succeed in life, despite the obstacles we may encounter.
